I think that's why some prefer the physical disk

When you download the game data, the disk allows it to run off that. The game data resides on your individual machine.

With the digital version, they can remove the "disk" so to speak and then you have no access, even if you have the game data.

Someone more technical than me please correct this if I'm wrong, that's just my understanding.
