Preseason All SEC VB selections…

Not really many surprises, with 2 time National champ Texas, and Oklahoma, expanding the conference to 15 teams (will be 16 next year when Vandy finally fields a VB team).
Preseason team picks:
1. Texas
2. Florida
3. Kentucky
4. Georgia
5. Tennessee
6. Missouri
7. TAMU
8. Arkansas
9. LSU
10. Auburn
11. Oklahoma
12T. Ole Miss
12T. SC
14. Miss St.
15. Alabama
Hard to argue with any of that. I’ll be shocked if Texas, Fla and UK aren’t the top 3, all are loaded.
GA, Tenn, Mizzou, TAMU and Arky are going to be interesting, those 5 teams could really finish in any order in the 4-8 spots, and all are likely NCAA tourney teams. Don’t think any of them have enough to challenge and break into the top 3, but whoever finishes 4th and 5th will certainly have had strong enough seasons to be in the mix for a top 16 seed. Hopefully one of those can be Missouri, as Coach Sullivan continues her remarkable rebuild of the team.
18 players named to the All SEC preseason team, 9 of them from Texas, Florida and Kentucky, also no surprise.
The only Mizzou player to make the team was Jordan Iliff, which was a given. Have to think deMarrais was in the mix too after her outstanding breakout season last year.
Biggest shock to me was Sands not making the preseason team. She was all SEC last year and named Libero of the Year in the conference. This preseason team for some reason named 5 setters but only 2 liberos, and they were the starter from Texas (no surprise), and Beavin from Kentucky, who was also all SEC last year. Would have liked to see the voting totals that had Beavin over Sands this time.
