The nato backers will tell you a story of triumph and you might even be able to sell that until 1989. If ignore failures like the attempt to overthrow Albanias communist government which cost 300 nato agents their lives. And if you ignore the fact that NATO didn’t defeat the Soviet Union or any of its client states. The evil empire fell apart from within with hero of the century Gorbachev deserving getting most of the credit for it’s destruction(along with Thatcher and Reagan who did it not through nato but with open negotiation and friendship).

But no one can argue the nato post 1989 has been anything but a failure

-nato takes part in Afghan invasion setting up a disastrous 2 decades finally ended when the Taliban won

-nato breaks Libya and turns a moderate state into an isis playground complete with slave markets

-nato engages in bombing campaigns twice in the Balkans during the Bosnian war and Kosovo war. Both times nato aligns with Muslim terrorists against the Christian Serbs fighting for their homeland.

-Ukraine war need I say anything

-Georgia where nato inflates Georgian ruler into thinking he is backed by nato. The ruler goes on genocidal warpath against separatists. Russia finally intervenes to bring Georgia’s bloodlust under control.
