Biden faces three huge challenges

Starting point was that he had among the lowest approval ratings of a president running for a second term in history. The public is not happy with his efforts on immigration and on the economy. He was/is starting from a position of considerable historical weakness.
Second, his campaign is right that Reagan and Obama had bad first debates. They indeed both had a bad night. Biden's issue is that this was not a bad night. This is current state. That he cannot just come out and for 60-90 minutes go back and forth with the media tells you much. That they are spoon feeding "acceptable" questions to interviewers is telling. He did not have a bad night. What we saw is where Biden often is these days.
And finally. it is now clear the Biden administration has been blatantly telling lies about him. Instead of admitting he was aging but still was capable as he was experienced and surrounded himself with advisors, they went with the imbecilic "we can't keep up with the man" story. The now have no credibility.
Hard to recover from all that.
