Thers putters (short range)
Mid range/approach disks (medium range)
Drivers (long range)
Then for each of those types, there's ones that tend to fly straight, ones that turn left, and ones that turn right. There's also varying degrees of turn from slight to extreme.
The shorter-range the disk, the thicker the rim and the (usually) less susceptable to wind. You want a putter that throws like a rock from a short distance. You don't want to miss a 20 foot put by 30 feet due to the wind.
But for a driver? Launch that sucker up and let the wind take it.
