He sounds like Mike Alden, setting up a nebulous goal post that makes it difficult to hold someone (including himself) accountable. Alden (and Pinkel) were masters at manipulating our weak press with this, and controlling access based on how favorable the press treated the AD.
The other thing that sets off an alarm: "the Tigers have a young core of players"-that leads to 'wait until next year'. It would be just like us to have a strong end to the season and just enough hope to give the AD the excuse to keep Pingeton around and save some money. She should have been gone 2 years ago. We all know what we're getting with her and what our ceiling is with her.
