I met Payne at the Lake of the Ozarks as a client did a Palmer Course designed course at the Lake and the PGA Tourney had just been in St. Louis---and we had a skins game with Palmer, Trevino, Tom Watson and Payne. Getting ready to go to dinner and Stewart walked up and said "where are we going to dinner". We went to dinner and people came up to him left and right and he signed every autograph and spoke to everyone. He stayed at my condo I owned in the day.

Never forget about 6 years later when his plane left Orlando, Fla and something went wrong--lost all oxygen--- and crashed in North Dakota killing everyone
