That is not how it works. People of a certain economic class ( most happen to be people of color) or people with prior arrest get profiled and pulled over for stupid reasons. Police officers will then try to extend that traffic stop to an illegal search. If they find marijuana in your car even though it is legal they can order a drug test and charge you with DUI even though you may not be. marijuana stays in your system for a long time. They can also charge you with smoking in your car (which is illegal). These people cannot afford an attorney and have to depend on a public defender who is paid for by the state. These people are unlawfully convicted and sometimes incarcerated. It is worse i9n florida. Florida tries to claim everything is fentanyl which is a felony and an attorney will cost a lot of money.
