always be a key part of the shack. But when one or two posters shut down all other discussions because they get lost in the endless series of posts then I have an issue with posting quality being brought up.

A single thread, even a large one, can be easily skipped over if you are not interested in the topic. The number of people posting in the few different discussions of the Butker comments would suggest that it was a topic of interest to shakers. It was not purely political there were connections to local sports and current social interest as well.
