the most basic one is that rights come from God/a higher power just by virtue of being alive.

Take it to that and Jesus doesn't even come into the account other than being God, if that's your flavor.

Most of the founders weren't super big Jesus fans.

ETA: May have said that wrong, many of them were Deists and not Christians.
