I'd be surprised if FMB and "Mothball" are the same guy...

mainly due to how different their political views are.
The guy running the Mothball account seems to be a leftwing "social justice warrior" type, whereas FMB is on the other end of the spectrum. (Now, if that's by design to elude suspicion, like a red herring, then I applaud the guy because it fooled me.)
Also, you'd have to be mentally ill to carry on the same stupid shtick for the better part of a decade. FMB strike me as someone who has better things to do with his time.
