at one of my old places of employ a coworker told me a story about our boss (this was a marketing gig)

back when nothing was digital his (the boss) former company was working on their company catalog

the boss had everything ready to go for the annual catalog and almost done (which is paste up - photos, etc) and accidentally left it laying on his trash can (top of, not IN the trash can)

went home for the night, night crew janitor thought it was trash and disposed of it all........months of hard work in the trash, that then went to the landfill before anyone could know any better.

the owner was p*ssed. made the boss go to the landfill and start looking for these paste ups

the landfill could only give him an approximation of where they might have been dumped based on the route etc...

never did find them but supposedly traipsed around in waders and rubber gloves for three days searching

then got fired - ouch - not even $5 found
