Usually, in those situations, when people think it's a cinch, the longer the recruitment goes on, the more and more it indicates that it's definitely not a sure thing.

Jevon Porter was supposed to be a sure thing starting a few weeks ago. Tick tock, tick tock... the longer that goes on, the less likely he really comes here.
