The times this century that you could argue that we were legitimately good:

2023-primary point guard was fifth on the team in scoring

2012-primary point guard was fifth on the team in scoring

2009-primary point guard was fifth on the team in scoring

2002-primary ballhandler was second on the team in scoring, but was not actually a point guard but a case of where we were weak at point guard and one of the best players just had the ball in his hand a lot.

Your team is going to be significantly better if you have a wing or a forward be your leading scorer. Yes, you need your point guard to be able to produce, bet your team will be better if your point guard is putting up 10 and six with a solid wing player than you will be if your point guard is putting up 18 and three.

Perkins put up 14 and 4.6 this last season with a pretty bland team around him. I would like to think that Bates, Crews, a healthy Grill, and maybe a couple of other pieces are better than what Iowa had and Perkins might produce more along the lines of 10 and six, allowing a couple of guys to average over 15, and maybe somebody else average 12 to 14.

          I would be skeptical of that (nm) - wu-tangtiger MU - 4/16 12:56:14
That tends to change in the SEC. Hopefully not to much. nm - thytiger MU - 4/16 17:45:24

                         1. Primary ball handler shouldn’t be leading scorer. - alwaysright MU - 4/16 14:20:21
In CB the primary ball handler is usually the leading scorer - unknownrebel MU - 4/16 15:28:27
No. That is not the most common approach to success. - alwaysright MU - 4/16 15:46:14
