It is before a holiday weekend. It is not competing with the NFL. And it is huge national publicity. Plus it's a terrible opponent and you could get slotted in the heat of a September or August Saturday. Much better to play a team like that at night on national TV when you have the stage basically to yourself. Gives you another few days off to prepare for opponent #2
