This year was difficult on defenses. I prefer to reward a defensive player for staying between his man and the basket and playing good defense by giving him the charge. The rules of basketball are simple enough and the NCAA should drop the rule changes enacted this year and go back to where the defense gets to play defense.

One decade long theme in the tournament I'd like to see changed, however, is the tendency to officials to reward hyper aggressive on the ball and pressing defense late in the game by swallowing their whistles. I've seen too many good teams get mugged out of the tournament by pressing teams that hacked with impunity to get back in the game late. I didn't watch the Houston/A&M game so not sure what happened there, but there is getting to be a long list of teams that "choked" because officials changed the way the game was called in the final few minutes - Louisville's mugging of Wichita State in the FF several years ago is a good example.
