I've seen zero reports of $26M. Furthermore, that figure seems unrealistic – no school (other than perhaps Kentucky or Texas A&M) would burn $26M to fire a basketball coach. $26M could buy you a Final Four-caliber roster for at least 4 seasons (via "NIL"), and could buy you a playoff team in football for at least 1 season, maybe 2.
$15M+ (as in "$15M and change") is what's being reported, and that's within the realm of believability. Gates' buyout won't be there for another 2 seasons, and I've consistently said it makes more sense to spend $20M+ on "NIL" than to fire a basketball coach.
