It is that these brilliant brilliant, ever so woke brilliant people couldn't anticipate that this would happen. And they didn't realize that it had happened until there was a flood of complaints.

Should we believe that they never tested it before they released it? Should we understand that after all the work they put into this not one of them looked at the resulting product? And thought maybe we can do better…?

This is just another case of criminally bad behavior getting caught with absolutely no consequences. The perpetrator saying, "golly that's a surprise. We sure didn't do that on purpose", and everybody just asks them to try to do better.

I don't think so. These people got exactly what they expected to get. All of the attention focused on this will only make them more careful to hide their bias and their ideology.

It won't stop them. It will just make them more deceitful.
