Secondly, in order to get a "true picture", one would need to remove those who pay nothing (either through having no tax liability or receiving refundable credits that actually take away from total tax revenue. Whether it's senior citizens who have SS and limited other income, or those with a bunch of kids, lumping them in with the middle class, skews the statistics.
Thirdly, the truly rich have means to avoid paying income tax - your Messiah, don trump, is a perfect example.
Does Don pay his fair share? (your post: "the rich need to pay their fair share"). Trump over-values his assets when he wants to borrow money, and undervalues his assets when the tax man cometh. trump has avoided/evaded paying income tax throughout his life, and you can bet that his holdings are structured so that estate tax will not be paid when he dies.
But yeah, we need to cut taxes for the rich and shift that burden to the middle class (since the poor aren't going to pay it.)
