Origin of the Collusion Hoax

This theory has been around for some time, but apparently there is now some additional supporting evidence.
According to investigative reporters Michael Schellenberger and Matt Taibbi, the Russian Collusion investigation was initiated not as the result of foreign intelligence tips, but rather was a deliberate setup by the CIA under the Obama administration. Allegedly, the US government’s intelligence community, including the CIA, asked the so-called Five Eyes nations’ intelligence agencies to seek out and interact with a list of Trump associates and then report back on “suspicious behavior” (e.g. Downer’s report on Papadopoulos) they could then feed to partisan zealots in the FBI, providing the pretext to begin the Russia collusion investigation.
