Other than to funnel money and keep tensions high and the threat of war continual
Even during the Cold War it didn’t solve any problems. What won the Cold War? Reagan and Margaret Thatcher negotiating with the Soviets, having visits based on goodwill, arms reduction, trading with each other. You can’t beat commies with war and sanctions. You beat them by showing them the good life of freedom and prosperity that capitalism provides.
