Programs are always recoverable if the right people are in charge with clear slow goals. Recruiting fifth and sixth year players who aren't even good enough to play pro in Asia is not a long term strategy. Concentrate on rising sophomores and juniors in the portal, do the requisite research on why they're available and undervalued. Meld them w/ the best returning and freshmen. Have a coaching staff that understands SEC ball. MU has none of that. I won't hope for anything in the upcoming season, but I'm sure the off season will be full of hilarious excuses.
