That came at the same time.
Golden, mid major coach to Florida
Paris, mid major coach to USCe
McMahon, mid major coach to LSU
Jans, mid major coach to MSU
White, failed at Florida, hired at Georgia
Gates, mid major coach to Mizzou

The hire was almost definitely coming from that group. Maybe Mizzou outbids KSU for Tang who had never been a D1 HC or takes a chance on English who had proven less at that point than the group hired by SEC schools.
