You seem to think that I thought that his contract will cause massive inflation across the US. That was obviously dishonestly wrong.
And then you say it will have no bearing whatsoever on inflation and that is wrong as well.
I simply made an observation that its a symptom and it is.
People whine and cry about inflation as if that is the only economic indicator that matters (like your ilk used to sing and dance about with the Dow Jones). Sure its bad.
But then along comes Tom Brady- he who has never so much as broadcast a single game and Fox is going to pay him twice what they are paying the guy he is replacing. Well good for Tom Brady, whom I have nothing against.
But do you think Fox is going to eat that cost? Well you quite possibly do. But they will not. And they won't just pass that cost along, they will raise their rates to make more of a profit. And while you quite possibly think the advertisers will eat those costs, they won't. and they will seek more profits as well and so on and so on. And that is inflationary. Will this one ridiculous contract noticeably effect overall inflation? no. Multiply this many many times big and small and will it> of course.
I wasn't any grand realization on my part, It was just
an obvious comment about a ridiculous contract that shows just how out of whack our societal priorities are.
I never considered for a second beforehand how it would show that so many of you don't know what inflation is.
