Yep. The so-called Flutie effect was also accompanied by a significant drop in the quality of the applicant. As you might expect. And "they had a good football team" is probably not the answer anyone should give to a company interviewer when asked why they selected a particular college.

And I suspect the impact of a good college football season on applicants and interest in the college is very overblown.
