He could have done the right and truthful thing and said:
"I f'd up and recruited the wrong QBs, or QBs that couldn't be ready in a year of development, or the real issues is he gave no playing time to anyone to develop but an injured game manager"
Instead he used it to deflect attention from his stupidity and blamed it on the fans and used it as an opportunity to finally support publicly the QB he chose the last couple years. I would assume even cook knows it was a game and that was drink's last card to play this year with no options or way to bluff.
but he still sacrificed 2024. Even the best QB coming in will not get playing time against a 2+ year starter
