Michigan is the unanimous No. 1 in the final AP Top 25 poll of the 2023 college football season after its 31-14 win against Washington on Monday night. It’s the Wolverines’ third AP No. 1 finish, joining the 1997 and 1948 teams.
Washington stayed at No. 2, its best final ranking since 1991, when it finished No. 1 in the coaches poll and split the national title with AP champion Miami. Texas is No. 3, its best finish since 2009. Georgia jumped Alabama, which it lost to in the SEC title game, to finish fourth after its 63-3 win against shorthanded Florida State in the Orange Bowl. The Seminoles dropped from third to tied for sixth with Oregon in the final poll.

How bowl season impacted the poll
After New Year’s Six bowl wins, No. 8 Missouri and No. 9 Ole Miss both earned rare top-10 finishes — just Missouri’s third and Ole Miss’ second since they both finished in the top 10 in 1969. Ohio State, which lost to Mizzou in the Cotton Bowl, hung on for its 10th consecutive top-10 finish.
