But that is an important but separate issue. As I have preached for a long time, law and order is maintained not by enforcing every law to the letter of the law, but by the use of rightful discretion. For the older crowd, this was the entire point of Andy Taylor vs. Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith show. Some cannot grasp this basic truth. Most law enforcement does not use the strict letter of the law every single time. The best law enforcement uses rightful and proper discretion to keep peace and harmony in the community.

That being said, it does not change that a violation of the law is a violation ever if your tummy feels really strongly that it is a poopy law.
