This scenario came to mind recently when a TB lefty expressed the opinion that the Second Amdt. only applied to the Federal Gov't. and not to the States. His argument was that blue-states could ban private purchase and ownership/possession of firearms, because they were unconstrained by the Bill Of Rights. I didn't ask, but I am pretty certain his take on the 1st Amdt. and our other civil rights was not similar.
