Stupid penalty and an incredibly selfish one. You had just stopped them on third down at their one yard line. You were about to give the ball to your struggling offense in FG range. No excuse for that.
Yes the refs missed the swing the other guy took at him, they often do. What they never miss is you standing in another players face for several seconds.
Dont forget we were gifted 15 yards on a bad late hit call. There had been a number of borderline late hits they had not called so I think that was a cumulative flag, but on its own merits it was a bad call.
