The people who become the Jews were a nomadic tribe descending from the hills in what would become greater Judea. The figure "Moses" was thought to be an old wifes tale or sorts, a legend of that nomadic tribe. Nothing more. But our good friends the Jews are kick-ass story tellers which is much of the reason they are so dominant in Hollywood and entertainment in general in the states.
