They are quiet and will run for 8hrs plus on one tank of fuel (about 0.6 gallon). There are knock-offs of this design now that might be cheaper, but I'll vouch for the Honda 100%. I got it used on ebay for $500.

But if you want to run a TV AND crock pots AND coffee makers AND blenders, you might was the bigger 2200i model. The 1000i is basically 900 watts, so you can add up the watts of what you want to use and see if it will do.
