Time it would have taken if both sides of the issue had been presented. Facts could have been revealed that would have just clouded the issue of the already established guilt of the insurrectionists.
If the Republicans had been allowed to choose which Republicans would serve on the committee, there may have been disagreements or even arguments, and that would have looked unseemly.
Uncomfortable and totally unnecessary questions of government complicity, involvement, and organization of the protest could have dragged this thing on. It's not as if they were after the truth….
And the cop who shot the unarmed woman might have been embarrassed. And he's black, so…
Much better just to lock up a bunch of protesters and close the case, then to actually investigate anything. It's so much quicker to do it Joseph Stalin's way.
If people are told the truth, it would just confuse them, and might cause hard feelings.
