the middle becomes easier for a pass there. I think D is often criticized when it shouldn't be simply because what really happened was very well executed offense. If both O and D (on equally talented teams) both play well and up to their capabilities as possible, the O should usually come out ahead. Thats the advantage of running good routes, quickness, speed and knowing where and when to cut on a run.
