And more often than not, it's a negotiation tactic to get a bigger contract. The coach's "plans" to remain at his current job are eventually superseded by his desire to make more money and compete at the highest level.
Of course, there are rare exceptions... like Matt Campbell at Iowa State.
If Leipold does stick with Kansas, one thing is for sure... the revised contract is gonna be massive — probably close to 10% of KU's entire AD budget (since they don't have SEC or B1G money).
