Had graduated from Mizzou--turned down the opp to fly F-4s in AF as would have been a career choice-- six years four months, Turned down Navy OCS during Basic and after Basic went crypto school---the Army's choice not mine. 90% of the people failed the courses but 10 college grad draftees all passed. Computer encryption of voice and typewritten messages before computers existed in real life.
I was antiwar but came back to US as a loser. We had lost the war . Hell only 25,000 left in country in 1973 . My VN job was communicating the bombing results of NVA troops to ships offshore and back to the Pentagon We bombed them using B-52s to the Paris Peace talks. To make it worse as a reservist called back in for the fall of Saigon in 1975 when I was in law school. They had ended the draft but wanted me to go twice? I refused . Got my DD-214 in 1977 so all ended well
