and a cynic. I am a proud American Liberal who supports a more open and generous immigration than we have had in place. I do not support that "to get more Dems in", for that is nothing self-interested and cynical. I support the ideal that America is a great melting pot. While that does not mean equate with the Right false claims of the Left supporting "open borders" it does reflect Reagan's phrase of the "city of the hill" - the beaming Light of America. As I have suggested here multiple times, I think we should triple or quintuple for that matter our annual number of allowed Visas.
And just a note - empirical evidence suggests that the population as a whole support more liberal and Democratic policies as the Dems doging tn't feel compelled as the GOP does to keep changing the rules of the game.
