It isn’t any more complicated that that. He got good defensive effort but just no where near adequate on the offensive end and squandered talent. Didn’t value possessions at all, so much standing and meaningless motion, no low post offense at all, and terrible shot selection. It didn’t help that he almost always played without a pg. He was never going to succeed here.
