As a business investor knowing the data and its short or medium (and maybe long term depending on the size of the investment) ramifications, the data and interpretation should just be as it is, neither side has the "burden".
A scientist looks at available research, puts the model together, finds the weaknesses of the model, and designs trials to either understand more, or further strengthen the model. A hypothesis certainly assumes an outcome, but the data is what it is.
When politics enters, generally the end is in mind, and only data that confirms that political bias is used. Science has no dictated outcome, nor burden.
Scientific debate is great, and advances get done by that. Unfortunately, that is slowly going away in so many circumstances.
