partisan speculation is the only evidence. Who knows what reason he would have to lie? I'm sure there are plenty of them and when you're lobbying politicians all over the world, you say whatever helps you at the moment. Unless you know the guy and can vouch for his integrity, I wouldn't just accept everything he says at face value.
