MU has indoor training facilities with the left field renovations. They also now have essentially the Devine Pavilion to themselves (& softball). That facility needs to start being marketed as a baseball and softball training facility and renovated to act as such in my view. Maybe even connect it to baseball stadium. Player amenities are not that big of a problem. A lot of what makes these SEC stadiums better are related to aesthetics. More adorned, expensive touches …. larger seating areas making stadium bigger looking (which MU just doesn’t really need because it has historically never been able to attract that many fans, even when NCAA tourney quality; 3 to 4 thousand is probably more than enough for the 4 to 6 good weather weekends MU baseball probably gets from March to May; midweek games are always going to be a struggle outside a few teams like ku). They probably impress recruits with look but not sure MU doesn’t have what it needs to make a recruit a better player.
The money that needs to be spent is largely to make the place look more impressive while not really doing anything for the player per se other than giving the appearance of being more “SEC-like”. At Mizzou, that’s going to be design features. Look at Yankee Stadium centerfield as an example. Build up a big wall and sell ads with a nice video/scoreboard. Maybe some bleacher seating that is dedicated to students in left centerfield? Go up and around with lots of brick. Simply going high with walls and enclosing Taylor would make it seem bigger. Perhaps cut wind a bit? MU needs some plans that it can fundraise off of as to what things could look like.
