Jamieson graduated from high school in Columbia, then spent almost 30 years in coaching at MU between assistant and head coach. I don't know him but I know the university system, and every additional year he works for the university adds to his pension. He may be thinking that he'd like working another 4-6 years for the university and then taking retirement and living here in Columbia in retirement. If he worked another 5 years for the university, it would boost his pension by another 11%.
He may also genuinely want to be part of the new staff.
I have to think this is a good thing for fund-raising from some of the highly successful pitchers that TJ coached. And he can be a good mentor to the new head coach, TJ did win a few conference coach of the year honors.
