illness to the point that those around them were aware of it. The initial "I was shocked" stories from neighbors always give way to the stories of severe mental illness that everyone acknowledged seeing.... and in many cases, the story reveals they had sought mental health care.

Their insanity was not 'underlying mental instability' It was front and center for all to see.
