in China's best interest to invade and take over Taiwan? The current party in power is considered to be the more favorable toward China. I believe there are a number of economic ties between them. Additionally, the Formosa Straights are a formidable obstacle to a sea borne invasion. I believe the distance from the mainland is about 100 miles at the narrowest point. It isn't the English Channel by any means. I don't believe China has any intention of invading Taiwan.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
