I was entertained for awhile, and while **** just seemed to work when he was in office (Covid notwithstanding) he was generally an ass and for that I can't support him. As in, he was such an ass I can't support him.
That said, January 6th was not a great situation for the US....but the Left went absolutely hyperbolic over it. The transfer of power was never in jeopardy from what I know of it and from what most people have seen of it, most of the people involved were just milling about. Yet it was characterized as, say it with me, "a threat to our democracy" though it never materialized itself as anything more than an interesting annoyance.
Attempting to prosecute a political opponent for charges that aren't concrete, and making a big show of his arrest in my opinion leads to more of a threat to democracy, because....where does something like this end?
It seems that behavior that is at least shady is common amongst politicians, from the insider trading that goes on to the hiring of peoples husbands as "bodyguards" simply to get them on the campaign's payroll, etc, etc.
If a legitimate crime has been committed, prosecute it as it should be. But those on the left should be sure to carefully apply the same standards to their own, and be even more careful when applying them to political opponents.
Abandoning principle by acting as though you'll always be in power essentially relies on trust that your opponents will not abandon the very same principle. Is that trust warranted?
