The Formosa Straight is roughly 100 miles wide at it's narrowest point. For comparison in 1944 the Allies faced crossing the English Channel, which is about 20 miles wide at it's narrowest point. Taiwan has formidable air and missile forces. The Chinese last attempted a seaborne invasion of another island nation something like 800 years ago. It failed. Accumulating, sailing and landing a seaborne invasion force is extremely difficult. However, the main consideration is whether it is in China's national interest to conquer Taiwan. As far as I can tell, the Taiwanese have made no threats toward China. You can't say the same thing about the Ukraine and Russia.
