In cable news, you spread the narrative you want to get viewers and ratings, even if you don't believe in it.

Take for instance CNN, who knew there was nothing to Russia gate, but they were committed to spreading the narrative to keep their viewers

They knew it there was nothing to it, but they wanted feeble-minded people to watch (and it worked).

Now, after multiple investigations, it is known there was nothing to it, except for a few simpletons who will copy and paste passages from Wikipedia in some - frankly weird and pathetic - attempt to say they were right all along.
