If an 18 year old realizes his teammate (who he dropped off and is planning on giving a ride home to) has left a gun in his car that the guy legally owns, what exactly is he supposed to do with it? He probably is concerned about having it and just wants to get rid of it by giving it back to its legal owner. He sure as hell isn't going to wave down a cop and say 'here, I have a gun I don't want' and I'd guess wouldn't want to take it home with him either-he's 18 and doesn't own it, that's a bad choice as well if he's caught with it. Can't just throw it out on the street...as for associating with the wrong people, well the guy is a teammate. Everybody is reverse engineering what he could have stopped from happening but all the stuff that led up to the shooting he wasn't around for. His mind was most likely in a completely different lane.
