I think NFC teams struggle with the Chiefs because they're not used to seeing them. AFC west teams + annual opponents like the Bengals/Bills are used to them, and spend the offseason looking for new ways to get an edge on them.

You want to go to the SB in the AFC? You're likely going to have to go through the Chiefs and do it at Arrowhead. That's why the Bills got Von Miller, and divisional foes made huge offseason moves specifically aimed at slowing down Mahomes or being able to score with him.
