I saw the improvements he was working towards. I defended him in 2004 when the program stepped backwards because I could see what they were working on (improving the O-line and small steps in bring it's weight up) trying to make Smith a pocket QB and then realizing that wasn't going to work. He learned and adapted. You could see his recruits improving. And there have been plenty of programs where the wins never came. Maybe with an OC, the wins will come. Remember, he was forced to do this. He did not recognize this. I hope I'm wrong because I want the Tigers to get back on the upward trend that was interrupted by 2015.
The major step we had moved from and now appear to be headed back towards is this concept of "We're Mizzou, we have to accept that" attitude. This is a bad step. I don't expect to win NCs (yet) in football, but I expect to be able to see progress towards being a winning program. The concept of not seeing it till happens is a Cinderella story concept.
